“Circle of the Fast Paced Life”
I have considered trying this shot for a while now since starting the project. I’ve stayed clear of it because I doubted it would work. But how do you know what works and what doesn’t work unless you give it a try?

I made several shots of a few other subjects to keep my options open for today’s image, but I must say I was pleased with how this image turned out. I darkened it a bit and pushed the bright areas just to the limit using the new Lightroom 3.
So what is the image about really?
Well, it seems to me that life is as fast paced as ever. There are so many options (which are often also distractions):
- TV – with its constant commercial interuptions (so now we have a harddisk to record programs so we can fast forward past the TV commercials)
- Internet – with quick news, RSS feeds, blogs and a stream short 1-2 minute video clips (also with lots of ads, just take a look to the right here)
- iPad, iPhone, iPod -and you Apple it
- Mobile phones in general – giving you access to music in your ears, text messages, emails and even the internet
- Skype – so we can keep in contact economically and easily
- Email – we have to check it, often many times a day, even many times per hour
And the list could probably go on and on with all the options available to the modern person in today’s society.
The point is: we live fast paced lives!
I say “we” because the likelihood is that if you’re reading this you’re probably also living a fast paced life. This is just one blog, one out of thousands and thousands out there in the blogosphere, one out of several that you probably follow on a regular basis.
Anyway, it’s something along those lines – the fast pace – that I wanted to encapsulate with this image.
It’s probably also an introspect image in many ways. A message to myself to slow down, relax and rember to put soul into things. Remember to focus on what’s important and remember to go in more depth and immerse myself in a subject instead of all the zapping, browsing and flicking.
Turn off the computer every now and then when you’re tempted to keep surfing the internet. Switch off the TV and pick up that book you’ve been wanting to read for so long. Go for a walk and leave the iPhone at HOME!
Slow down and relax a bit. It’s good for the soul and mind. (And this is just as much a note to myself!)
